In a close game the Caracas Leones got by the St. Paul Saints in 10 innings by
the score of 4 to 2.
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Finally, Caracas pulled
the game out in the 10th inning. Milton Bradley got things going when he
delivered a one-base hit. Willie Bloomquist stepped up next and he laced a
base-knock. Asdrubal Cabrera was next to the plate, but was promptly struck
out. Kevin Youkilis followed and he stroked a base-hit. Jed Lowrie came to
the plate and banged out a single. David Wright kept things alive and
grounded into a double play. St. Paul could do no damage in the bottom of
the 10th.
Jesse Carlson(4-5) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Manny Corpas
recorded his 7th save. Salomon Torres(2-8) took the loss in relief.
The Caracas ballclub's record now stands at 83-66. With this loss, St. Paul
has a 5-5 record of late, 66-83 overall.
